Growing up on his family farm near Slayton, Minnesota, Grant learned early the value of hard work, perseverance, and community. Those lessons shaped not only his personal life but also the professional path he chose. After high school, Grant pursued his interest in agricultural business earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering from South Dakota State University.
Following graduation, Grant spent the next seven years in the agronomy field, working closely with farmers to help them maximize yields, manage resources, and solve production challenges. That hands-on experience gave him an in-depth understanding of the unique demands and uncertainties of farming—from weather swings to market shifts.
When the opportunity came to join KDL Insurance, Grant saw a natural fit. His role allows him to merge his technical knowledge of agriculture with a deep commitment to helping producers protect their livelihoods. One of the things he values most about KDL is the shared background among the team.
“We all come from farming,” he explains. “We know what it’s like to face the same challenges our customers are dealing with, because we’ve been there ourselves.”

Even today, Grant’s connection to farming remains strong. He works alongside his dad on their family farm, raising hogs and cattle. This firsthand experience keeps him grounded in the realities of production agriculture and allows him to give practical, empathetic advice to the producers he serves.
Grant has been married to his wife for eight years, and together they’re raising two children—Brooks and Blake—who are already beginning to enjoy the same rural lifestyle he grew up with.
In his free time, Grant loves to hunt, hike, and spend time outdoors, whether it’s exploring nature with his family or enjoying a quiet morning in the field.
